With the right artistic director supported by the right marketing director backed by the right board, a city‘s ballet account is about as good as it can get for ad people. Obviously the aesthetic substrate — to wit, the dancers — is without parallel: incredible athletes decked out in eye-boggling costumes set amid to-die-for scenery. But the best part is doing what every other ad campaign doesn’t do. Because rather than just decorating beautifully shot images with pretty, distracting designs and fonts, we were encouraged to create provocative idea-driven content based on big season themes.
