Conscripted to promote the local 2020 ADDY awards, we developed a campaign caluclated to inflame our advertising colleagues’ zeal for excellence. By presenting Adnonymous, a rebel-cum-agitator, we challenged them to rise up and confront a system that they denounced as uninspired, thereby provoking the mother of all righteous creative clapbacks. However — and as irony would have it — when the campaign ran, the result was a pearl-clutching meltdown from the AdFed board (including an indignant lecture from one of its virtuous skivvies); the demand that we disavow publicly all forms of terrorism; and, in the ultimate proof of a collective aversion to creativity, not even a Bronze ADDY from the judges to acknowledge our brilliance.
